One Month After Launch...
The End is just the beginning.
THE END OF THE WORLD launched Feburary 5th and here I am, a month later, giving you a brief “how it went”.
Sales
I reached my expected target of 50 books sold, horray (52 total)! Like all authors, I was secretly hoping my months of grueling promotional work would pay off with larger numbers, but my research was dead-on. As a side note, I did try advertising through Amazon Ads for a couple of weeks ($5/day), but that was a complete waste of money—as I was advised it would be for a debut unknown author.
32 through Amazon (plus around 1000 page reads through Kindle Unlimited)
15 through IngramSpark (distributes to everywhere except Amazon)
5 through local bookstore
Expectations Going Forward
I expect to sell 1-2 books a month until I begin promoting / advertising Book Two (SEPARATE WORLDS). Mostly these sales will be people who shelved my book on Goodreads and real life people who forgot to buy it earlier (I can’t blame them—I’m guilty of doing this too, haha).
Author Newsletter Launch
My MailerLite author ‘fan’ newsletter launched on March 1st, show-casing the full cover art for Book Two: SEPARATE WORLDS. The official public reveal of Book Two’s cover is on March 31st, but if you comb through my social media, some of my newsletter members have already shared it :-)
Sign up now so you don’t miss my next fans-only reveals on May 1st.
Bonus: New Character Art (Finally!)
Introducing The After Lord, villain of my future dystopian Earth! If you want to know what the heck is going on in this scene, you’re just going to have to read the book (sales links on my website: hsgilchrist.com )
Was It Worth the Effort?
This is my passion brought to life. It absolutely was. The time and the money I spent went toward producing the absolute best quality book I could manage for my readers. The hours of social media and promotional art work may seem like a waste on first glance, because of (predictably) low sales, but at this stage in the game I am building a foundation for future works.
The BEST PART about all this is that I have a few-but-mighty readers that really enjoyed my story and are eagerly awaiting Book Two.
The End is truly just the beginning….

I was wondering what promotional sites you advertised on like Book Barbarian, etc.?
